Model Aircraft 1946/10 October - cover thumbnail

"You can imagine our amazement when one of the models hit a riser at about 200 feet and was eventually timed 20.5 minutes, out of sight. Unfortunately, the Germans really sat up and took notice after this performance and suggested we were sending messages. This fact and, happily, the prospects of the war finishing in the near future, prevented further activity."

About this title

The Journal of the Society of Model Aeronautical Engineers
Vol. 5, No. 10

Contains the fascinating story of the Heydekrug Model Aero Club, set up in 1944 inside a WWII POW camp. Not only did the 20+ club members build and fly planes, they produced a weekly club magazine and staged a competition.
